If you were hoping to play MultiVersus on the Nintendo Switch, you may be waiting a little while, as its release date is far from close.
It makes sense that players would want Warner Bros.’s latest smash hit platform fighter, MultiVersus, to drop onto the Nintendo Switch. After all, while we all adore Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it’s been out for a long time now. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like the developer has any plans to bring it to the Switch any time soon.
Is MultiVersus Coming to the Nintendo Switch?
No, MultiVersus is not coming to the Nintendo Switch. It skipped the platform entirely at launch and will likely never be ported in the future. The developer, Player First Games has stated multiple times that it has no intention to release the game on the Switch any time soon. This is likely due to the limitations of the hardware thanks to the game upgrading to the Unreal Engine 5, as well as the fact that the Switch already has a well established platform fighter: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Back in December 2021, Player First Games Co-Founder and MultiVersus Game Director Tony Huynh told fans that they wouldn’t be porting the game to Switch. This was, according to Huynh, a “hard decision for us” and due to “limited resources.” Of course, it is possible that MultiVersus may eventually come to Switch, or at the very least, the Switch 2. After all, Huynh also stated that they “want to enable as many players as possible to play and enjoy our game.”
It all depends on how well MultiVersus does on other platforms. Considering its very successful relaunch, it may eventually receive a Switch port. However, for now, Switch players will have to wait patiently or hop back into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the millionth time.
