Everything Announced at the 17 April Nintendo Indie World Showcase

Nintendo hosted an Indie World Showcase on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, and it featured a number of exciting upcoming indies you’ll want to add to your backlog.

Nintendo’s Indie World Showcases are a great way of supporting and spotlighting upcoming indie games from big and smaller dev teams. Fortunately, the Wednesday, April 17, 2024, showcase had plenty of surprises up its sleeve, many of which players will want to wishlist immediately. Here’s everything that was announced on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the Indie World Showcase.

Everything Announced at the April Nintendo Indie World Direct

There were 17 games included and announced during the April 17 Nintendo Indie World Direct, including Little Kitty, Big City, Cat Quest 3, and Steamworld Heist 2. You can see a full list of all games announced below:

Little Kitty, Big City

Little Kitty, Big City is an upcoming adventure game where you play as an impossibly adorable black cat as they try and find their way back home while lost in a big city. Along the way, you’ll make friends with a host of delightful furry critters and take part in quests, all while donning various delightfully adorable kitty hats! You can pre-order it now for when it comes out on May 9.

Yars Rising

In a collaboration with WayForward Technologies and Atari, Yars Rising is a reboot of the classic Atari 2600 game Yar’s Revenge. In Rising, you take the role of young hacker Emi Kimura as she stealths, hacks, and blasts her way into unlocking the mystery of a corporate empire. No official release date was given, but we know it’ll be coming to Switch later this year.

Refind Self: The Personality Test Game

This exploration-based adventure is all about trying to figure out who you really are. In Refind Self, how you play and the choices you make will impact on your personality score at the end of the game. Everything you decide to do, from the minigames you play, characters you interact with, and where you go and what you do will affect your final score. Trippy! You’ll get a chance to find out who you are later this summer.

Sticky Business

Sticky Business is essentially a sticker-making simulator where you can create sticker designs, pack them up, and sell them to your devoted customer base online. Though simple at first glance, we can imagine that many hours could be spent on this one! Sticky Business is out now with the full game and DLC available to purchase on the eShop.

Antonblast

Those with a penchant for destruction will be pleased to know that Antonblast is coming to the Switch. It’s set to be an explosive blast from the past, featuring fast-paced side-scrolling action that evokes the PS1 era. It’s coming to Nintendo Switch on November 12 and is releasing as a timed exclusive.

Valley Peaks

Valley Peaks is set to be a delightful first-person climbing sim with a gorgeous color palette. Each mountain you climb will act as a puzzle for you to solve, and you need to get on top of each peak to place radio towers for the frog citizens in the town below. No release date has been given, but it is expected to be released on Switch sometime in 2024.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes has you engaging in various handcrafted puzzles in order to solve the mystery behind it all. Developed by the folks behind Sayonara Wild Hearts, you know you’re in for a treat. Switch owners can get their hands on it on May 16, 2024.

Europa

Europa is a gorgeous-looking open-world puzzle adventure that evokes the wonder and mystery of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. In Europa, you take the helm of an android set on finding answers on Jupiter’s lush, terraformed moon. The game’s gorgeous landscapes provide a beautiful backdrop to the free flow movement as you explore. Europa is set to release sometime in 2024, but players can try their hand at a demo now to see it for themselves.

TMNT Splintered Fate

TMNT Splintered Fate is an action-packed roguelike set in the colorful universe of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You can check it out on Switch when it releases in July 2024.

Cat Quest 3

Cat Quest 3 is the adorable pirate-themed entry in the gorgeous RPG series. With improved visuals, seafaring adventuring to be had, and plenty of loot to plunder, Cat Quest 3 is dropping onto the Nintendo Switch on August 8, 2024.

stitch.

Stitch. is an adorable paint-by-numbers-esque game in which you must create wonderful works of art using thread and needles. It’s dropping onto the Nintendo Switch today.

Bzzzt

Bzzzt, the colorful platformer in which you play a robot taking on other, far more evil robots, is coming to the Nintendo Switch. You can try this one out for yourself when it releases this summer.

SCHiM

SCHiM, the indie game all about hiding in the shadows, is coming to the Nintendo Switch. We got a release date during the April Indie World Showcase of July 18, 2024. Not long to wait now!

Animal Well

Animal Well received an official Nintendo Switch release date of May 9, 2024. So, fans won’t have long to wait until they can try out this intriguing looking title.

Duck Detective: The Secret Salami

Duck Detective: The Secret Salami is a wonderful looking mystery title from the folks behind Kraken Academy. You’ll solve various mysteries in this animal-themed detective noir adventure coming to the Nintendo Switch on May 23, 2024.

Another Crab’s Treasure

We got another look at Another Crab’s Treasure before it’s release date next week. You can pick up this bubbly-looking soulslike on the Nintendo Switch on April 25, 2024.

SteamWorld Heist 2 – August 8, 2024

The final announcement of the showcase was for the long-anticipated sequel to SteamWorld Heist. In the sequel, you’ll be able to explore an overworld as well as engage in a fascinating story filled with a colorful cast of characters. It’s dropping onto the Nintendo Switch on August 8, 2024.
