New Magic: The Gathering Set, Outlaws of Thunder Junction Unfolds

Magic: The Gathering celebrates the arrival of a new, western-themed set called Outlaws of Thunder Junction.

Magic: The Gathering continues to expand its various card sets with the recent Fallout collaboration and now the Outlaws of Thunder Junction. This set features many Wild West-stylized cards with a traditional Magic: The Gathering twist. The Outlaws of Thunder Junction lineup aims to bring a new frontier to the multiverse of Magic: The Gathering, showing players a world full of fortune-seekers and there is no right and wrong.

Magic: The Gathering Outlaws of Thunder Junction – New Additions

Magic: The Gathering Outlaws of Thunder Junction features Outlaws, a collective involving Rogues, Assassins, Pirates, Warlocks, and Mercenaries. Furthermore, a new keyword, Plot, has been added to the set, which requires players to pay the plot cost to exile a card. This allows you to cast it on a later turn for free. Additionally, Spree gives instants and sorceries extra effects, each having an added cost. This mechanic has brought with it some very powerful cards if you’ve got the lands to make the most of them. Another mechanic introduced in Outlaws of Thunder Junction is Vehicles and Mounts. They require other creatures to be tapped to Crew and Saddle them, giving additional effects.

However, that is not all when it comes to new Magic: The Gathering Outlaws of Thunder Junction keywords and mechanics. When players target an opponent, anything they control, and/or cards in their graveyard, it’s considered a Crime allowing for an extra effect to trigger. Lastly, Assassins, Mercenaries, Pirates, Rogues and Warlocks are considered outlaws. With the introduction of the outlaw classification, it opens the doors for some fun commander decks to be built with cards from older sets.

This new subset is full of Standard-legal cards, and uncovering it grants players access to 30 different Mythic Rares, which are stylized in Vault Frame and Raised Foil.

The Outlaws of Thunder Junction features unique cards like Borderless Art in Rares and Mythic Rares. Ten special guests for the set are also decorated in foil and nonfoil. They can be found in the Play and Collectors Boosters. As the set is themed around being a criminal, the vilest characters are displayed in Wanter Poster form.
